Just because your predecessors were sick in their last decade, or maybe even their entire lives, doesn't mean that you have to as well. while you don't have the exact same DNA as your grandparents, great grandparents, and so forth, you still get most of the genes that might cause diseases. This is why some people are predisposed to getting cancer, diabetes, or heart disease. Some things truly do run in families.
