When you have mental stressors, you tend to eat more, however, eating more also causes more stress. Some ingredients in certain foods like excess sugar, high fat levels, and high sodium. These types of foods generally cause blood sugar spikes which increase cortisol levels, which makes a vicious cycle of eating, becoming temporarily happy, and then stressed again. This cycle gradually increases weight, which has been shown to increase cognitive decline.
